This is the first set sent in by our readers, and it’s what started our Blackpack Owners EDC series. It’s the shortest of them all — and that’s exactly what makes it interesting: there’s nothing unnecessary here.
What’s in the set
The owner described it in one sentence:
“FlexBag, knife, IQOS, carabiner multitool, phone, documents, pen, marker, tote bag.”
| Item | Role in the set |
|---|---|
| Knife | Basic everyday tool |
| Carabiner multitool | Two in one: key holder and small tool |
| Phone and documents | What you don’t leave home without |
| Pen and marker | Pen — for paper, marker — for everything else: boxes, plastic, metal |
| Tote bag | Saves you when you need to stop by the store on the way home |
| IQOS | Owner’s personal item |
What makes this set useful as an example
- Tote bag — the most underrated EDC item. Folded up, it takes up as much space as a wallet, but turns a compact bag into a full shopping carrier.
- One item — two functions. The carabiner multitool replaces both a keychain and a separate screwdriver. Thanks to this, the set stays small.
- Pen and marker together. Seems redundant, but these are different tasks: you can’t label a box or pipe with a pen.
How this set fits in the Flex Bag
Flex Bag has three compartments, and for a minimal set that’s even more than enough:
- front — keys on a detachable carabiner, pen and marker in the small-item pockets;
- main — knife, tote bag, and documents, with room left for a bottle or glasses in the elastic holders;
- hidden back with soft lining — phone.
